To make this card, I stamped out my image and colored it with my Spectrum Noir markers. Still loving them!!! Then I went a little crazy. I wanted the feel of a very wintery scene so I got out my Glossy Accents, my Stampendous Shaved Ice and my Martha Stewart Crystal Course glitter.
I started by folding a piece of scrap paper in half lengthwise. I put my image on top of the folded paper and wiped over it with a dryer sheet. This will help the glitter and shaved ice from sticking where it isn't supposed to stick. Then I used the glossy accents to outline the areas I wanted the "heavy snow". Then I opened up my Shaved Ice and sprinkled it over the glossy accents. I pressed down gently with my fingers. Next I picked up the image and tapped it gently over my folded piece of paper. Now to save every little bit, I pick up my folded paper and pinch it together a bit and use it as a funnel to pour the extra bits back into the container. Easy! I followed the same process with my glitter. Then I set it aside to dry.
Now I stamped out my sentiment and scanned it through my computer so I could adjust the size down a bit. I cut out the sentiment and the mat with my Nestabilities Dies. Then I stapled on a bit of ribbon. All that was left was to put the card together. I layered some papers and then my colored image and then used my double sided adhesive squares to "pop" the sentiment up off the page a bit. Voila! All done. What do you think?? Lucky for me I had this project all ready to go this week because yesterday I came home from taking my children to school and found that my dogs had gotten into some medications and eaten them. Since I wasn't home at the time, I had no idea who had eaten them so I had to take them all to the vet. Long story short - two of my three dogs are home and doing fine. One is still there and if all goes well will be home tomorrow. It has been a scary and stressful couple of days.
Last night to take my mind off of things, I pulled out a card making kit that I have had for quite awhile and made three cards. I was motivated by challenge 1 of the Big Idea Festival going on September 4th - 17th at Big Pictures Classes (for free). Stacy Julian has put out a challenge to everyone to Make Someones Day by sending them an actual handwritten letter or card. I used one of the cards I made and to write a nice letter to a cousin that I haven't talked to in a long time. I even mailed it!! lol I challenge you to do this too. Do it right now. Pick up a piece of paper and a pen and write a letter and actually mail it!! You will make someone VERY happy! Don't you remember the joy of going to the mailbox and getting a card or letter or package? Google isn't cooporating with photo uploads so you are only going to get to see one of the three cards I made. I will try to add them on my next post.
This is getting very long so I will end here and talk to you again another day. Don't forget to join in on this months challenge (Stripes and/or Dot) on the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge blog. And don't forget that I have TWO giveaways going on right now that you need to be apart of so that you might win!!! See ya!
Wow! These are all amazing cards, Stacy! Well defined lines on the 2nd card and I like the total effect on the 1st card.
