Write, Click, Scrapbook as been focusing on card making this week on their blog. Yesterday they had a tutorial to make a card in 5 minutes. I was intrigued so I made "my version" of it.
I just started with a pre-made white card. I punched a scallop out with my EK Success 3" punch. They used a monogram punch but I didn't have one.
I then punched out 6 butterflies with my Marvy butterfly punch. They suggested layering for texture and I wanted to have 3 butterflies on my card.
I folded the wings up and glued the folded butterflies on to the flat butterflies. I then used Stickles on the butterfly bodies.
I used my Cropadile to punch a hole in the scallop and then added a eyelet. I took some of my navy/white bakers twine and twisted it and knotted the end and then threaded it through the eyelet. I then stapled the twine to my card (the first time through BOTH side of the card! lol). I taped down the scallop to the white card then added the butterflies to the scallop. I then drew some Stickle flight pattern swirls. And then stamped a Heidi Grace Clear stamp sentiment in the same navy ink that I used on the edge of the scallop.
WOW! Way too much detail for such a simple card!!! LOL (I'll make up for it with this next project...)
I then asked my bff, Denise, to email the picture she took of our girls being ROCKSTARS this last weekend. And then I used the photo to make my March Basic Grey Calendar page. I've been scrapping each months page monthly (make sense??) using a photo from that month or the month before.
The girls were so cute. They came rushing into the family room in their pajamas with guitars in their hands. Then started to pretend to sing and play for us!! ADORABLE!!
I told Denise (because I am bossy) to go get her camera and take a picture. She propped them on the fireplace and snapped away. (one of the few pictures that were taken last weekend...boo us!)
Okay, enough for today.
Don't forget to go to Crafter's Companion Blog for their fun Luck of The Irish Contest. All you have to do is email your favorite technique to them for a chance to win some fun goodies!! Easy Peasy. Just don't forget to put "my technique" in the subject line. And for every 10 emails they will add more product to the giveaway!! Go join in!!!

ReplyDeleteCute little 5 minute card, too!
Love that card so very much...it's hard for me to only spend 5 minutes on a card. I'm always trying to find "just one more thing"to cram on there. I like the simplicity of this, but the dimension and small touches really make this stand out as a fabulouso card. Love the swirly-doo-flight patterns :) (Yes, I just called them that.)
ReplyDeleteLooks like your little rock stars had a great time together, and I bet you and Denise scrapped like MANIACS! Adorable picture, and love the layout.
*hugs*
