Crafter's Companion March "Vintage" Challenge

Have you joined in on the March "Vintage" Challenge at Crafter's Companion this month?  If you haven't there is still time to join and be in the running to win the $30 gift card to the Crafter's Companion store!

I have my take on a "vintage" card to share with you today.  Apparently, vintage is not my forte because it took me FOREVER to come up with this card and it is very plain and simple.  lol

I stamped out my sentiment from Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy Stamp Set - Always Floral with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto a sheet of Ultra Smooth Premium White Card stock.   Next I sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat embossed it.

I pulled out a couple of dies and my eBosser and cut out the sentiment and a mat.  While the sentiment was still inside the die, I inked over the image with Ranger Distress ink in Brushed Corduroy.  This gave the perfect little frame around the edge of the sentiment.

Next I pulled out two complimentary pattern papers and distressed and inked the edges.  On one of the papers I grabbed the swirl stamp from my Sheena's A Little Bit Scenic - Flying Colors and with Scattered Straw Distress ink, stamped parts of the swirl on a couple of the corners.  And then I took out my Darice 5" X 7" Embossing Folder - Dot Background and embossed the green patterned paper.  It doesn't show well in the photos but it give nice texture.

After that I just had to put all the layers together.  I worked from a sketch challenge at Try Stamping On Tuesday.  I turned the sketch and took off a piece because it wasn't working with my topper.

I popped up the sentiment with double sided adhesive squares to give a bit of extra dimension.  I used the same Distress ink to color some white ribbon from my stash to make my bow.  I finished the card with 3 pearls.

I'm pretty excited by a new storage solution from Crafter's Companion for my embossing folders called the Embossing Folders Organizer.  I am so excited by it I actually made a video to show it to you!  Tell me what you think.  This is my first youtube video!!  (go me! lol)

We have Spring Break coming up next week and I'm getting very excited!! lol My bestie and her family are coming in to visit for the first 4 days of our break and then my mom will be in town for a couple of weeks.  We are all excited by our upcoming visitors and our break time.

Thanks for stopping by today and looking.

Until next time...happy scrapping.

Sheena's New A Little Bit Floral Stamps

I love being on the design team for Crafter's Companion.  One of the best things I get to do is work with new stamps before they are on sale to the public.  Greedy, I know.  ha  This week I was lucky enough to get to play with the new Sheena Douglass A Little Bit Floral stamp collection.  This time she will make you drool over the gorgeous florals she has designed.  I know I had to wipe the edge of my mouth a bit after looking at them! ha

I picked the Dahlia stamp to work with on this card.  I pulled some beautiful papers from the Graphic 45 - Birdsong paper pad to use and grabbed my Spectrum Noir color chart to help me decide which Spectrum Noir markers would match the best.

I ended up using these markers after I stamped out the image with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I stamped out the flower and one leaf.  After I colored them I fussy cut them out and then used a pencil round the edges a bit and then got busy working on the base of the card.

This was easy to do.  I started with a white base card and then I got a piece of turquoise card stock from my stash and trimmed it a bit smaller than the base.  I wanted to add more texture to my card so I pulled out the Darice - Damask embossing folder and embossed a piece of Luxury Centura Pearl Snow White Card stock in my eBosser.

Did you know that Crafter's Companion just got a bunch of new Darice embossing folders in their online store?  I know what I'm putting in my cart next! ha

Finally I just layered my papers and wrapped a piece of ribbon around the middle.  Then I tied little knots along it.  I used double sided adhesive squares to adhere the flower to the card and then I adhered the leaf under the flower with liquid adhesive.

I will be entering this in the Anything Goes Challenge at Creative Inspiration Blog.

Okay now what are you waiting for??  You better go rush over to Crafter's Companion and get a look at the whole collection!

Thanks for stopping by and looking.

Until next time...happy scrapping!!

I'm Quackers About You!

I am really loving these new S.W.A.L.K. Pawfect Pals stamps but then again I love all the S.W.A.L.K. stamp sets.   (Seriously!!)  As soon as I received my stamps I got to work stamping out images and coloring with my Spectrum Noir markers.

I have colored so many of these new images it was a bit hard to decide on which one I wanted to feature as my Tuesday Project for Crafter's Companion. But then I realized that I had the perfect image colored for my next anniversary card for my husband. I love it when a plan comes together! So here is a card I made using the Quackers stamp set.

And since the card was made for my anniversary, I thought I should go ahead and make a matching box for my husband's anniversary gift.

Boxes are so easy to make with the Ultimate Tool. Why don't I show you?

You just start with two pieces of paper the same size.

Then you open up your Ultimate Tool to the inside. Find the side that has the Box Base and Box Lid on it. Then decide how deep you want your box to be by choosing one of the score lines. I started with the box base so I butted my paper up to the side that says Box Base and then I scored on the 2nd line on all 4 sides of my paper. (if you don't have the Ultimate Tool you can measure in about 1 inch and score)

Then you turn the Ultimate Tool around (or not if you don't mind working upside down) and butt your paper up along the side that says Box Lid. Score your paper on the same line as you did for the box base. So for me, I scored on the second line on all four sides of this patterned paper. (about 1 1/8th inch on each side)

Next you fold and burnish all your score lines. Then take your scissors and trim a notch along the score line in each corner. (see photo above)

Now you need to adhere the sides on both the box base and box lid. Flip your paper over with the outside facing up and put glue on the little tabs you made in each corner. I use a wet glue because it gives me time to move things around if I need to.

Align the tabs with the sides and hold in place with a paper clip until your wet glue dries.

I decided finish off my box with a flower that I die cut with my new eBosser. (Shhh don't tell my husband about my new eBosser!) I adore this new machine because it is so easy to use. When you want to make something you just pull out the instruction booklet which has recipes for dies and embossing folders and find the one you need. For my Thin Metal Dies I started with Platform D on bottom, then I added a shim. Next I layered on Platform C, then Platform B. On Platform B, I put my Cutting Die with the patterned paper on top. Finally I put Platform A on top of everything. I turned on the machine and started sliding the boards into the machine until it caught hold and took over for me. It cuts smooth as butter!

Here are a couple of shapes that I cut out for this project. I cut out 5 graduating sizes and layered them for my flower. I colored a gem with my Spectrum Noir markers to color coordinate and added it to the center of my flower.

Here is the card and box together. I guess it is a good thing my husband doesn't read my blog posts!

Here are the Spectrum Noir markers that I used to color this stamp. It seems like I used most of the ones I own!
