Three Challenges Today

Happy Tuesday Everybody!

I am posting a little later in the day today because I posted so late last night... I want everyone to get to enjoy my post from yesterday!! LOL (jk)

I have a couple of things to share with you today because I was a busy scrapping beaver yesterday. At the end of the day I had made 3 layouts and 1 card. Not bad considering I still took care of and played with my 5 kids.

I made this card for the Play Date Cafe Challenge #45 that you can find here... http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/2010/09/play-date-cafe-challenge-pdcc45.html.

It is a color challenge and the colors were orange, taupe and burgundy. (I am sure they have a fancy names but I can't think what they are right now.) Great colors though.

I made the flower first because my friend, Kelly, had told me about a tutorial I could watch to learn how to make the box flower. http://cosmocricket.typepad.com/cosmo_cricket/2010/02/box-flower-video-tutorial.html Check it out if you are interested.

It was a little harder than it looked but only because I needed stronger adhesive than I used. It just kept coming apart. But I eventually worked it out and I think it is cute. In the tutorial it was layered with another box flower but I only made one since I was struggling with it! lol
Next, I have the layout I made using the fab sketch challenge at Sketches in Thyme...love, love, LOVE it!!! (no really, I love it I tell you!) lol You can find that challenge and sketch here... http://sketchesinthyme.blogspot.com/ .
I combined the sketch challenge with a challenge my friend, Kelly has going at Sketches4you. She is the Guest Designer for September and she has an awesome challenge going on right now.
1) must be new layout (layout only)
2) must be predominately GREEN.
3) must have at least one handmade flower on it
Those are the requirements. And if you want to participate (and who wouldn't) just click on the prompt on my sidebar to be taken directly to the site.
So I used some awesome Pink Paislee Paper - Queen Bee Collection, that is a chartreuse green color mostly. And it just worked so great with the picture of my dd that I used. And that awesome sketch was just the icing on the cake. I really LOVE how the sun seems to be peeking over her shoulder. Works perfectly!! I love when things come together.
I don't think my photo is the greatest because you can't see how pretty the colors of the papers/title work etc are. Those Pink Paislee letters I used are almost a lime green. Oh well, I couldn't get a better picture so you are stuck looking at this one.
So there you are - a few creations to look at and COMMENT on! lol
Hugs!!

I'm Back

We are back from Minnesota and it was a good trip although it was chilly and rainy there. My husband and I had a nice time looking around and seeing all the beautiful Minneapolis/St. Paul area. But it is sure nice to be back home. I was missing my kiddos.

Did everyone have a good labor day weekend (for the US folks) or a good regular weekend for everyone else?? We stayed around the house and swam, played and scrapped. I was behind again and needing my crafty "fix"! lol

One of the things I did was a Halloween layout for a challenge that Fia has at Sketches4you has going in her Sketch Crazy Group. This is a great Pagemaps sketch and I had good time making the layout.

I used a picture of my kids from last Halloween. How can you go wrong doing that?? ha

The pp is K&C Company Specialty paper. It is fun and bright. I used a gorgeous black Prima flower and some black Prima bling. The fun canvas embellies are from My Little Yellow Bicycle.

I went crazy with my i-rock and blinged it out a bit. I do so love bling! ha

I also used a K&C Company Spooktacular pumpkin border. I loved using my Martha Stewart branch (?) punch on the purple card stock under the photo. It adds a little spooky feel to things.

I stapled on some green ribbon from my stash to the title tag. The final thing I did was to stamp out an area for journaling and then used my Copper Stickles to make it sparkle. Every thing needs a little bit of sparkle in my opinion!

I like the final result and my kids did too.... Hope you do too!

Sharon's Sketches4you Recipe Challenge

I made this card for a Recipe Challenge that Sharon posted at Sketches4you.
The challenge was to 1) tear your paper 2) layer your paper and 3) ink your paper.
I kind of just made of this sketch and tore Prima Youth Collection paper. I inked with Ranger ink pads (Worn Lipstick and Black Soot). I used some twine I had and some of those Art Flowers (vintage collage) from Hero Arts that my friend, Keun got me for my birthday...did I mention I LOVE THEM!! And again just added a button from my stash.
I have a huge stash of buttons...they are one of my weaknesses!! lol
I used another vellum saying from those that I got recently at Big Lots.
I really like how this came out.
I normally don't really like to tear my paper because it usually doesn't look very nice in the end. But this looks pretty in person. It just seems to work.
I am still out of town. I have this set up ahead of time to post. I hope you are happy that you visited my blog.

Ugliest Tag EVER!

Here you go...please feast your eyes on the ugliest tag ever made...!!! LOL
I made it for a tag challenge by Michelle at Sketches4you.
The challenge is to use this Pagemaps sketch and make a tag with flowers on it.
The person with the most flowers wins....
I have managed to get 67 flowers on this 3x4 inch tag!!!!!!!!!!!
I flower stamp, 6 pale pink flowers, 14 flower stickers, 30 rhinestone flowers and 16 blue roses. All added individually.
If you look at it long enough...it grows on you!!! LMBO!
You must admit even if it is ugly it makes you smile....

My September 1st Card Challenge

I made this card sketch for my September 1st Sketches4you Card challenge. The challenge is just to make a card using this sketch...easy enough.
Here is my card I made as an example.
I also entered it into Brenda's August Challenge at Sketches4you. Her challenge is to use Fall Colors and a flower. Also super easy and fun to do.
The paper I used was in a medium sized surprise box from Prima - the Youth Collection.
My friend, Keun, gave me the flowers for my birthday. They are Art Flowers (vintage collage) from Hero Arts. LOVE THEM!!
The button is from my stash, as is the ribbon. I inked the paper edges with Ranger ink pads (Vintage Photo, I believe) and the quote is from a little thing of vellum quote I got at Big Lots.
I also entered this card in the challenge from Christy at Sketches4you to Use A Quote.
There are a ton of great challenges at Sketches4you. Go check them out!! It is a super fun place to hang out and talk and scrap with friends. You can easily just click on the button on my sidebar to get their quickly.
As you can see I got a lot of mileage out of this card!! lol
I am still out of town and setting this up to post while I am away. I am taking my computer with me so I will be online periodically but thought it was smarter to just have a few things ready to go. Enjoy!!

Sketchy Thursdays 8/26 Sketch Challenge

I know you won't believe it but I am going out of town AGAIN. My husband got a promotion and we will be moving. We are both going to fly to Minnesota and check out the Minneapolis area and try to get a feel for where we might want to live. We leave tomorrow afternoon and come back on Sunday.
Nothing happens quickly so we might not be moving until next year so expect to hear about it for a while.
Here is my take on the Sketchy Thursdays 8/26 sketch challenge. I ended up changing to only one picture that was horizontal instead of vertical but I think it works out fine.
I used My Minds Eye pp's - Deena's Penny Lane and Spectrums Cool. I added some crocheted flowers that my mother made for me and I made a paper flower out of scallop punched pp that I cut along every two scallops and then scrunched up. I layered the paper scallops and then put the crocheted flower on top. Add a few buttons from my stash and voila.
There is some purple bling...also from my stash and I cut out the title work with my Cuttin Up Cricut Cartridge. I also added a few paper clips and charms.
I combined this challenge with a challenge at Sketches4you that Dannette has going right now. It is to use Purple, Pink and Lime Green, 3 flowers, 3 buttons, and 2 paper clips.
Thanks for visiting my blog, I really love to share my creations and to hear from you.

Sassy Lil Sketches August 28th Sketch

Here is my take on the August 28th Sketch Challenge at Sassy Lil Sketches. I LOVE this paper so much. It is Summer Song from My Minds Eye.
So bright and cheerful and just plain FUN! The pictures are of my sister and her granddaughter and the new "baby doll". She just loved that baby doll that I got her. She followed me around asking me to take pictures of her "baby".
I have been out of touch for the last two days because I have been off at the Paris Hotel having a mini "adult" vacation with my husband and with our friends, Chris and Denise. We had a blast! So sad that it ended so quickly. We miss them already!
Crazy week so far, we had our vacation, kids started school and yesterday my husband got a promotion!! (congrats to him) Lots of good things happening here...hope your doing as well. Hugs!
