Happy Saturday!

Yeah!!  It is the weekend!!  I am SOOOOO ready for school to be out for the year!  My kids have 3 more days and the end can not come soon enough for me! ha  (Wow! Every sentence has an exclamation point after it!! hehehe)

Yesterday my oldest son went on his first "real" date.  He took a beautiful girl to the 8th grade Formal Dance at his school.  It was so sweet and he was so happy and excited.  They had a blast too.  Look how cute their were:

My mom is flying in today from Oklahoma.  I'm excited to have her here visiting.

I have a layout to show you today that I made yesterday while Rochelle and I were scrapping together.  It is actually a layout with photos of my mom and my aunt on it being silly and trying on funny hats.  So that seems appropriate! ha  I made it using an awesome Make it Monday #16 challenge at Memory Nest.

Here is the sketch:

Here is my layout:

I also was entering it in a color challenge at Color Me Scrappy but I am a day too late!  Darn!  I do this all the time! ha  Oh well....

Rochelle said I should have taken a before and an after photo because I actually really messed it up by adding paint circles to it and then hated them and needed to figure out how to creatively cover them up.  But I didn't so you only get to see the final results after I "fixed" things.

I love the title "Say it Loud,! We're cute and we're proud!"  I'm not sure how well it shows up in the photo.  I think I did pretty well covering up all those paint circles though. ha

That's all for today.  I have to get ready for my Momma!

Thanks for stopping and looking today.  Have an awesome weekend!  Until next time...happy scrapping!

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday!  Of course, I keep thinking it is Monday.  The result of the holiday weekend I am sure.  But then I will be happily surprised when it is Friday on "Thursday"!  LOL

I had a fun scrap "date" with Rochelle today at her house and I mostly finished two layouts.  When I got home I finished up one of them.  I am going to go ahead and share it with you because the challenge ends today!  EEK! ha

I am entering this in the sketch challenge at Stuck?! Sketches. Here is the fab sketch:

I am also entering it in the Scrap & Play Challenge #2 - Word Challenge.  The word is Flowers.  I used:

F - Flower
L - Leaf
O - Overlay (trimmed overlay to make photo corners)
W - Wood and Washi
E - Enamel Dots
R - Rhinestone
S - Stripes and Stickers and Staples

I actually had to change my original background because I had a painting mishap and got black paint smeared all over it.  And then I couldn't find another piece of cream card stock in my stash. (How is that possible?!?! ha)  I switched it to green and I think I like it better!! lol

Thanks for stopping and looking!  I hope you had a nice weekend and have a great week!!  Until next time...happy scrapping.

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day!

I have a few  cards to share.  They are cards that I made and gave out and then promptly forgot to post.  lol

Here is a watercolor card that I made and gave to my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.  I was inspired to make it by the Online Card Classes Watercolor for Cardmakers class.  I entered it in my friend Cheryl's Flower challenge this month at Sketches4all

I stamped the flowers on watercolor paper and then painted them with watercolor paints.  I think it turned out okay.  My mother-in-law liked it.  I'm also entering it on the Love to Scrap Challenge blog for their Anything Goes challenge.

The second card is one I made and my daughter gave to her friend for his birthday.  I used scraps leftover on my scrap desk from a layout I made.  I think it turned out cute. I'm entering this in the Anything Goes challenge at My Pink Elephant.

And here is another that I mailed and can't remember for the life of me who I mailed it to.  I'm having a brain fart. lol  I'm entering this in the Amuse Studio Anything Goes Challenge.

That's all for today!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Until next time...happy scrapping!

Not Sure

Hello and welcome!  I made a layout yesterday for a sketch challenge at Stuck On You Sketches.  It is a great sketch but I'm not totally sure I am loving my layout.  What do you think?  Here is the sketch:

And here is my layout:

I like the distressed background paper that I inked but I think my complaint about this layout is that it doesn't seem to go with the papers and fussy cut embellies I used.

The photo is from winter time and is very similar to another photo I scrapped in January.  Yes, this is one of those times where I grabbed a photo I had already scrapped, (do you do that?) realized it and then luckily had one a bit different to change it to.  I actually just glued it down directly on top of the other photo.

My daughter is having her end of year Dance program at school tonight.  She is in 3 of the dances.  Hip Hop, Tap and the finale.  So, I will hopefully have some new photos to scrap of her and will share them with you soon.  I know she is going to rock it tonight!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!  Until next time...happy scrapping!

Second Post of the Day!

Hi guys,

Here is my second post today so if you missed the first one please scroll down and check out all the layouts I made!!  This layout is for the May 15th sketch challenge at Sketch N Scrap.  This was another fantastic sketch that was fun to scrap!  I used more of the yummy Graphic 45 papers from the Botanical Tea collection that my mother bought for me.  Super gorgeous papers!  I have been using and using this paper pad.  I am also entering this layout in a color challenge at Sketches4all.

My layout using a photo of me and my kids on Mother's Day.

Here is a close up.

Thanks for stopping and looking!  Don't forget to scroll down and check out the other post from today.  Until next time...happy scrapping!

Ton's To Share!

Hi everyone!  I'm back... ha  I have actually gotten my scrappy mojo back....yeah!!  But I'm still dragging my behind on getting back to blogging my projects.  I am getting there but I'm being a bit slow so today I will be sharing 3 projects!  Let's get started...

One of the reasons I have my mojo back is that I found a new local scrappy friend!  The amazing thing is the way I found her.  My daughter brought home a birthday invitation and it said to RSVP to Rochelle Spears.  When I read the name I went, "wait a minute!"  "Rochelle Spears?!"  Could this be Rochelle Spears Scrapbooking that I know online??!  I went all "fan girlie" for a minute!! LOL

So I rushed to Facebook to check if my online friend was in fact the mother of a child in my child's class!!  And can you believe it?  She was/is!  So I emailed her to RSVP and tried to play it cool so that she didn't think I was a crazy stalker! ROTF  At the party we talked scrapping as much as we could and then made a "play (scrap) date".  And the amazingly wonderful thing is that when we got together it was effortless and it just seemed like we already knew each other.  And we had a fun scrapping together.  We have already gotten together twice and plan to do it again next week. (and again and again!)   I am thrilled to bits to have made friends with Rochelle.

I have made 3 layouts and 1 card during our scrapping time.  I'm sharing some of them here today in addition to one other layout I made.

The first layout I'm sharing I made for the challenge at Scrap Our Stash.  The sketch is by Rochelle and it was super fun to scrap.  You are required to make your own background w/cardstock, stencils and/or mask and a medium i.e. paint, ink etc.

I used white cardstock and a fun stencil for my background.  I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Chartreuse to spray my stencil and then I dripped Primrose and Teal Color Shine on top of the paper too.  Then I inked the edges of the paper with my Ranger Distress pad in Peeled Paint.  The photos are some that I took on Mother's day.  I'm entering this in the number challenge at Making Today Better Than Yesterday.

Close up.

Another close up.

My next layout is for the May 1st sketch challenge at Sketch N Scrap.  I decided to scrap some photos of my son and his friend that I took while they were working on a cooking project for their World Geography class.  I used papers from the Bo Bunny - Our Lil' Monster collection.

My layout.

A close up.

The next thing to share is another watercolor card.  While Rochelle was here the first time, I showed her how to do the watercolor technique that I used to make the two watercolor cards I recently posted (last two posts).  Afterwards I had this pretty watercolored square just sitting on my desk so I had to make it into a card.  And of course I had to share it too.  lol

The stamp is from Hero Arts - Big Ticket stamp set.  I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine onyx black pigment ink.

So that's all from me for today.  Thanks for sticking around and reading this LONG post! ha  Until next time...happy scrapping!

Another View

Here is another look at the photo of the card I made that was inspired by the class Watercolor for Card Makers at Online Card Classes.  (I need a separate URL to post it so you get to see it again.  If you are just now visiting my blog, scroll down to see the full post....

Entered in challenges at Fussy and Fancy and Sister Act Card Challenge #56.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!  I've been taking the Watercolor for Card Makers Class at Online Card Classes and it has been awesome so far!!  I've been practicing all the techniques (coming up with some hits and some misses.  lol)  but I haven't had time until now to make some of my successes into cards.  Here are a couple of cards that I was inspired by this class to make.

And here is another one:

These were fun to make.  And super simple too.  I just took one of my acrylic blocks and inked it up with Ranger Distress inks.  Then I spritzed the block with water.  Then turned it over onto a piece of watercolor paper.  I pressed down and held it for a little bit so that the paint could absorb into the paper.  '

After the paint dried I layered them with some card stock and adhered them each to a white card stock base card.  For the top card I stamped out my sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  For the next one I stamped out my sentiment with VersaMark ink, sprinkled on some opaque white embossing powder, and then heat set it.

I finished them both up with and random assortment of pearls, bling, sequins and skittles.  I'm entering them in the Watercolor challenge at Keep It Simple, and in the Spring Colors challenge at Fussy and Fancy and also in the Anything Goes Challenge #56 at Sister Act Card Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today and looking.  Be on the lookout for more cards made during my adventures taking the Watercolor for Card Makers class!!

Part 2

Here is the layout that I already posted today but I needed a separate link so I could enter it in the challenge at Skissedilla, so here it is again.   Check out my previous post.

I used their awesome sketch.

Cool sketch right?!  I'm entering it in the challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Anything Goes Challenge too.

Until next time... happy scrapping.

The Day After...

Hello!

Well,  I was able to finish up three more layouts before I finally gave up! ha  I was actually inspired by the sketch from Skissedilla and made two of my layouts today using this "layout sketch".  The first one is of my youngest son.  He loves to ride his bike and I got this photo of him looking so happy.  I just had to scrap it.

I pulled out a bunch of different colors of washi tape and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine and went to work!   I really just grabbed some tags and a paper scrap off my desk and it just all came together.  I'm entering it at Skissedilla and I'm entering it at Scribble and Scrap also.

Here is a close up

The next one I made using the same "sketch" and a photo of my bff's two children. They are best of friends with my children. This photo was taken on one of their visits to us.  My children had just gotten on the bus to go to school and they had just said goodbye to them.

I again just pulled some scrap paper from my desk area.  I used the washi tape and Color Shine I already had out and this layout came together super fast. I decided to use a kraft paper base for this one.

I have to tell on myself.  The first time I glued down the title I misspelled Friends!  I left the "N" out.  EEK!  I luckily realized it and could peel the letters off and add the correct spelling without too much difficulty.

The next layout I made is actually for two different challenges.  One is the sketch challenge #1 at Scrap and Play.

And I combined it with a color inspiration challenge at Color Me Scrappy.

It was actually a bit of a fluke.  I printed out the color inspiration earlier in the day with the intention of doing the challenge and then after I made this layout following the sketch from the sketch challenge I realized that I had used all the colors in the inspiration piece!  Totally not realizing it.  Must have been an unconscious paper choice.  So weird but cool.  I am going to enter it in Rachelle's Mother Challenge at Sketches4all too.

I kind of want to keep going and make more layouts since I am on a roll but Sunday afternoon is going to be for swimming I think.  But who knows....maybe I will sneak into my scrap room and throw another one together. ha

Kids made it home okay last night from their band trip.  We got to sleep in this morning a little bit before my two littlest kids came home from Meemaw's house.  Now I have all my kiddo's back home.  Life is good.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Until next time...happy scrapping!

National Scrapbook Day!

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!  I can't believe I was actually home and able to scrap today.  I've missed out the last couple of year.  Today I made two layouts and a card and I thought I would share them with you.

The first layout I made is a DT project for Sketches4all's May DT challenge.  It is a sketch challenge with the My Favorite Woman/Women theme.  The sketch is from Brenda Ragsdale and it is wonderful!  She makes the best sketches!!  I used my mother as the focus of my layout.

I really like how it turned out.  It photographs a little paler than it is in real life.  I did a bit of fussy cutting to help add dimension.

After I finished the layout I made a card with the scraps that were left on my desk.  Here is how it turned out.  I used the sentiment stamp from Avery Elle - Handwritten Notes.  Love that stamp set!  I entered it in Cheryl's Flower challenge at Sketches4all.

The next layout I made is actually for 4 challenges.

The first is a sketch challenge at GrandDivas Creative Corner .

I picked doily, graph paper and masking but then worried that my patterned paper that has a graft paper background wouldn't be considered actual graft paper so I also did doily, punches and chipboard!! lol

And I entered it in Fia's challenge at Sketches4all.  Here is what I came up with:

I will probably make a card with the bits and bobs leftover on my scrap desk but haven't had a chance to do that yet.

What have you been doing for NSD?  Get any scrapping done?  Sign up for any giveaways?  SHOP?  I did all of that except shop....can you believe it?! lol

I just finished eating a lovely Chinese takeout dinner with my hubby and oldest daughter and now I need to go walk some of it off!! ha  It is better to walk here in the evening after it cools off.

My two older boys are gone to L.A. for a band field trip.  They spent most of today at Disneyland and had a blast.  They keep texting and telling me so! LOL  They are driving back home tonight and I will have to go pick them up at 3:30am!!  (eek!)  I'm definitely not looking forward to that. ha

Tomorrow I think we will be sleeping in (hehe) and then spending the day in the pool!!  It will be sunny and hot here in Las Vegas and the water in the pool is glorious!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend too.

Thanks for stopping by today and looking.  Until next time...happy scrapping!
