My Hubby's Back!!

Hello everyone! Shhhhh don't tell anyone but I snuck into the backroom at Crafter's Companion and stole a stamp from the soon to be released Toreads line of stamps! (wink!)  I think you are going to be excited to see the little cutie pie nymph that I have to show you. She is called Flora.

What do you think? Love her as much as I think you do? I stamped her out onto Ultra Smooth Premium White Card stock for Alcohol Markers which is the best paper I have found for my Spectrum Noir markers. Of course I colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers. Then I fussy cut the colored image. Here are the marker colors I used: LG1, LG2, LG3, LG5, FS1, FS2, FS3, FS5, FS8, PP2, PP6, LV1, LV2, LV3.

I thought that she would look cute sitting in the opening on the front of my card so I dug out my die cutting machine and some fun shaped dies. First I grabbed one of my new Darice embossing folders -Flower Frenzy Background. I put some green card stock in the folder and ran it through the machine and embossed the paper. These embossing folders give such a deep, clear embossed image! Love them!

Next I layered the embossed green card stock onto some pink patterned paper. I used a die to cut a shape through both pieces of paper. Then I took the die I used and the next larger size die and cut out the purple "mat" for the opening. I used the larger die to also cut out a coordinating piece of patterned paper for the inside of the card that shows through the hole.

I wanted it to look like she was holding this birthday banner so I stamped out Happy Birthday onto the pink patterned paper and layered it onto the green card stock. Then I trimmed the ends to make it look like a banner. (I showed this technique on a previous post HERE.) I adhered it to the card with double sided adhesive foam squares. The patterned paper I used came with a sticker sheet of flowers. I layered several of them and used some of the same dimensional foam squares to pop up parts of them. I topped them with a button and a couple of gems that I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers for that perfect custom color look. I finished by adding a sentiment from the Flora stamp set to the inside of the card and giving things a little sparkle with Stardust Stickles.

This card is going to a little girl for her birthday and I think she will love it.

I've been working on campaign stuff with my daughter who is running for Student Council Vice President.  Here is a photo of one of her campaign posters and today we decorated a couple of t-shirts for her to wear to promote herself.  They are very rigid in what they will allow.  So we decided that this might be a good way to get her name out there.  Fingers crossed it helps!  She gives her speech on Thursday or Friday (not exactly sure at this second).

I've also been working on my scrap room.  I pulled everything (literally) out and have been slowly organizing and putting it back.  Since my hubby came home from China on Saturday (at midnight so really Sunday )(Yeah!) we had to kind of throw a bit of it back in.  Emphasis on "throw".  We didn't want him to come home to a big mess.  Anyway, I got most of it in and organized and as soon as I get the last bit done I will take photos to share!!  I've really been working on that instead of doing much actual scrapping.

Did you hear me mention that my hubby is back home after being in China for a month!?!?!?!?!  Yippee!!  I'm so happy he is finally home.  He was even sweet enough to let me sleep in yesterday while HE got the kids up and ready for school!  Woot!   Next time he says he wants to be gone for a month...someone remind me to say NO!!  lol

Okay, enough for now.

Strawberry Kisses Love You

Hi my friends! How is your Tuesday going? I hope it is a beautiful day wherever you are sitting reading this post from me today. I'm in sunny Las Vegas so I'm pretty sure we are going to be getting into the upper 90s today. That's normal for September everywhere right?! lol

How about a holiday card to cool you down or warm your heart or both? I am just so in love with these new Strawberry Kisses stamps from artist, Sally Hunter. I colored 4 of them tonight so expect to see more in the immediate future!! lol

The ones I used on my project are from the Love You stamp set. I just think this little kitty is absolutely precious!!!! Don't you? I stamped out and colored the image with my Spectrum Noir markers. Do you love to color as much as I do? It really just relaxes me especially when I'm using these Spectrum Noir markers because they just color so effortlessly!! It is just such a pleasure!!

Just center the punch between the two corners.

This is what it should look like. (please ignore my ink covered fingers! lol)

Finally the finished banner.

After I finished coloring, I just pulled out some complementary papers and layered them under my trimmed image. I added a bit of ribbon and Stickles. I wanted to have a little banner on my card so I cut out little rectangles of paper and then took my square punch and trimmed the end to make the two points. So quick and easy. I added the banner with double sided adhesive foam squares for dimension.
Not quite dry but you get the idea.

I also stamped and colored my sentiment then layered it on card stock. A little Crystal Stickles added onto the words for sparkle and then I adhered it to the card. Since I already had the Stickles out I figured that the hat needed to shine so I put some on there too. To finish I added a couple of pins.

If you have some time to get scrappy, I would love for you to join in the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge blog Stripes and/or spots challenge this month.  We are giving away a $30 gift certificate to the Crafter's Companion online store to the winner.  You know you like to shop!!

My 10 year old daughter is running for Vice President of Student Council.  I'm just so proud of her for putting herself out there like that.  They had to go through an elimination process to narrow down the 15 kids that wanted to run into the 4 that are going to run.   She made the cut and is in the final 4.  She just has to give a speech for the school next week and hopefully wins the voting.  Fingers crossed!!

Anyway we spent most of last night working on campaign posters. (Which I promptly forgot to take photos of...darn it)  We still have two more to make (maybe I will remember to photograph those. lol) and I might try to get a head start on those this morning while it is quiet around here.

Thought I would leave you with a photo of my little Trixie Belle.  She just looked so cute curled up on the chair in my scrap room.  (she isn't my sick dog)

Right now, I think I will get busy on the other images I have colored so I will talk to you later. Thanks for looking today. Until next time...happy scrapping.

Only TWO More Days!

Hi guys,

Only two more days left of my Birthday Giveaway.  Look at one of the prizes above!!   If you are interested in being one of two winners be sure and join in on the POST HERE.  And tell your friends, because if I get to 100 comments I will add a THIRD winner and a THIRD GIVEAWAY!  Less than 20 away...

It has been a bit crazy around here.  Kids are back in school and one of my kids isn't really liking school right now and so we have had a few problems that we are working on.  My 14 year old dog, Sophie who has leukemia isn't doing so well so we are getting to that point that is always so painful.   Losing someone you love is hard.

My hubby has been away in China for a couple of weeks now and will be gone until the end of September and that has been a bit difficult.  We are really missing him.  He always travels with work but never for this long.

So lots of things have been getting in the way of me blogging. (and my scrapping)  I'm sorry to have not really been around lately.

I do have a couple of things to share with you today though.  First let's start with a project I made for Crafter's Companion.  It is a gift bag.  I have seen a couple different kind of these bags on Pinterest and piddled with some paper until I got it just right for me.  I'm a "last minute" sort of gal.  Sad to say but I do everything at the last minute.  That is just how I work. lol  So I decided to make it a bit easier on myself and make up a few of these little gift bags to throw in teachers gifts, goodies for friends, etc  You get the idea.  They are pretty easy to make and I put up the directions on how I made mine on the Crafter's Companion blog.  If you are interested you can go look HERE.

I used an image from the new Strawberry Kisses Winter stamp collection.  These stamps are super cute and I am enjoying working with them a lot.  This one is from the Happy Christmas set.  Isn't that little kitten, Snow, sweet?!

If you are new to coloring or if you just want to learn a bit more about coloring this specific image you should check out the Color-A-Long on the Spectrum Noir blog.

I also stamped out the holly from a Sheena Douglass stamp set.  It is in her new A Little Bit Festive line.  I stamped the image out a few times, colored them and then fussy cut them out.  I actually cut them apart too so that I could use them where I wanted and I rolled the leaves around a paint brush to give them some dimension.

For my next project I have a layout made that was for the new September Sketch challenge at Sketches4All.  They have a neat new sketch that inspired me. The photo I used was from the first day of school.  I always try to at least get that photo scrapped.  lol

I really love that acetate alpha overlay that I used on top of the Pink Paislee Mistables paper that I inked with my Ranger TH Distress ink pads.  I think I rubbed on about 3 different inks with my blending tool.  Super easy and so cool!  I love that Mistable paper! It is fun to work with and the possibilities are limitless.

Oh I wanted to show you the Happy Mail that I received from Webster's Pages.  I happened to be lucky enough to score one of their $10 Sprinkles boxes.  Only $10!  And free shipping in the US!  Woot!    It is just a sweet little special treat.  LOOK!
Here I have just opened the box.

This is what I see when I open that paper.  Look at the cute little cookie!!
A cute binder clip

Look at all this luscious ribbon!!!!!

And finally all of the pre-cut and punched pages for a mini album.  AND a gorgeous embellie to add to one of the pages.

I can't wait to get to working on that little mini album!  Were you lucky enough to get this Sprinkles box?  I sure hope so.

Okay, this is long enough for today.  Thanks for looking...HUGS!!

I Have A Lot To Share

One of the reason's I love working with Crafter's Companion is that I'm always so excited when I get to play with product before it is out on the market. This week I was lucky enough to get to work with Sheena Douglass' new A Little Bit Festive stamps. These stamps will be available on September 13th in the Crafter's Companion store and I think you are going to really like them.

To make this card, I stamped out my image and colored it with my Spectrum Noir markers.  Still loving them!!!  Then I went a little crazy. I wanted the feel of a very wintery scene so I got out my Glossy Accents, my Stampendous Shaved Ice and my Martha Stewart Crystal Course glitter.

I started by folding a piece of scrap paper in half lengthwise. I put my image on top of the folded paper and wiped over it with a dryer sheet. This will help the glitter and shaved ice from sticking where it isn't supposed to stick. Then I used the glossy accents to outline the areas I wanted the "heavy snow". Then I opened up my Shaved Ice and sprinkled it over the glossy accents. I pressed down gently with my fingers. Next I picked up the image and tapped it gently over my folded piece of paper. Now to save every little bit, I pick up my folded paper and pinch it together a bit and use it as a funnel to pour the extra bits back into the container. Easy! I followed the same process with my glitter. Then I set it aside to dry.

Now I stamped out my sentiment and scanned it through my computer so I could adjust the size down a bit. I cut out the sentiment and the mat with my Nestabilities Dies. Then I stapled on a bit of ribbon. All that was left was to put the card together. I layered some papers and then my colored image and then used my double sided adhesive squares to "pop" the sentiment up off the page a bit. Voila! All done.  What do you think??

Lucky for me I had this project all ready to go this week because yesterday I came home from taking my children to school and found that my dogs had gotten into some medications and eaten them.  Since I wasn't home at the time, I had no idea who had eaten them so I had to take them all to the vet.  Long story short - two of my three dogs are home and doing fine.  One is still there and if all goes well will be home tomorrow.  It has been a scary and stressful couple of days.

Last night to take my mind off of things, I pulled out a card making kit that I have had for quite awhile and made three cards.  I was motivated by challenge 1 of the Big Idea Festival going on September 4th - 17th at Big Pictures Classes (for free).   Stacy Julian has put out a challenge to everyone to Make Someones Day by sending them an actual handwritten letter or card.

I used one of the cards I made and to write a nice letter to a cousin that I haven't talked to in a long time.  I even mailed it!!  lol  I challenge you to do this too.  Do it right now.  Pick up a piece of paper and a pen and write a letter and actually mail it!!  You will make someone VERY happy!  Don't you remember the joy of going to the mailbox and getting a card or letter or package?   Google isn't cooporating with photo uploads so you are only going to get to see one of the three cards I made.  I will try to add them on my next post.

This is getting very long so I will end here and talk to you again another day.  Don't forget to join in on this months challenge (Stripes and/or Dot) on the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge blog.  And don't forget that I have TWO giveaways going on right now that you need to be apart of so that you might win!!!

See ya!

Second Birthday Giveaway Added!!

Hey!  Look at me posting two days in a row!!  WOO HOO! lol

I made a quick "vintage" card for my friend, Cheryl's, Vintage challenge at Sketches4all

I pulled out some chipboard and papers from Graphic 45 and some twine and got busy.  It went together pretty quickly except for the sentiment.  I just had the hardest time thinking what I wanted to do/say for the sentiment.  I ended up using some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Verbiages (word stickers) to write out "I Love Your Smile".  I think it works.  How about you?

I also made this card for the new Crafter's Companion USA Challenge blogs September Stripes and/or Dots challenge that started today.  I love this Poplar Tree stamp from Art Kure.  I stamped out the image 3 times and colored them.  Then I fussy cut one out and layered them on my card base.  I used corrugated craft paper for my "stripes" and for some great texture.  Apparently I'm on a TH Verbiages kick since I used them again for my sentiment on this card. lol  What can I say?  I like them.  You should go check out that new challenge at the CC Challenge blog.  You could win a $30 gift certificate to the Crafter's Companion USA online store!!

Oh, I almost forgot.  My birthday Giveaway has reached 50 entries so I am adding a second giveaway of ...

Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers - Pastels 24 Piece Set and one Spectrum Noir 36 Pen Zipper Bag to put them in.

How does that sound??!!  And if I reach 100 entries I will add a 3rd giveaway prize.  So spread the word and tell all your friends.  You still need to comment on the main birthday giveaway post to enter.  GO HERE

Okay, enough excitement for one day!! LOL  For all you folks in the US, have a fantastic Labor Day weekend!!   And everyone else you guys have a great weekend too!!
