Bird Without Wings

Hey there.
Have you signed up for my gratitude giveaways yet??!!  GO HERE.  I plan to announce my winners on Friday so go sign up.

I want to share a card I made using a soon to be released Stamp It Hummingbird stamp.

I find myself only stamping in either black or brown most of the time.  Well this time I stepped out of my comfort zone and stamped in PURPLE!  Purple is my favorite color.  And purple went perfectly with these new My Minds Eye-Miss Caroline papers that I have been itching to use.  I added a little crystal Stickles to the hummingbird's tail to make him feel a bit more magical to go along with the lovely quote from Moslih Eddin Saadi which says, "A traveller without observation is a bird without wings".

I mentioned recently that I have been obsessing over these We R Memory Keepers Sew Ribbon punches on this post.  Well, I used the Zig Zag punch on this card.  I'm still loving the product.  It is really just super quick and simple to use.  I think I need the Flower punch next!! lol   I can see a ton of uses for that one. Do any of you have this product??  What do you think about it??  Loving it too??

The only other things on the card are a flower embellie and some bling from my stash that I colored with my Copics to match the card.   Just a clean and simple card.  What do you think?  I like it!

I spent a good portion of my day yesterday cleaning in my scrap room.  It had gotten a bit out of control and I wasn't enjoying trying to find a spot to scrap in there.  It is much better today.  Not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but better.

Tonight my ds has another Lacrosse game and we are going to take a team mate to the game with us.  I need to find my warm clothes because desert nights can get really cold!

Okay, I'm off to the post office.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Carri’s Birthday Celebration Hop…February 16th

Welcome to Carri's Birthday Blog Hop!!  I'm glad you could find time to hop along!!!   If you arrived here from Karen's blog you are on the right track.  If you didn't you might want to go to Georgiana's blog and start at the beginning.

Happy, happy birthday to Carri!!  I just love that girl!!  And I am so happy to be involved in a blog hop to celebrate her.  Please visit all the blogs and end your hopping on Carri's Blog - Doubleclick Connections.  She has some yummy candy to giveaway.  You just need to hop around all the blogs and leave a comment.  The last day to participate in the Blog Hop is February 28th.  There will be individual candy given away on some of the blogs.  (like this one!!)
To celebrate Carri's big day I made this Set of Drawers Card to send to her.  I am on the design team for Crafter's Companion and am lucky to get some of their products to work with.  One of the things I find myself reaching for everyday is the Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool!  I can't rave about it enough.  It has so many functions and you can make so many cool projects with it.  The next thing I can't live without is the Ultimate Crafter's Companion Advanced Construction Techniques DVD.  This DVD is LOADED with fun projects and Sara is so good at taking you through each one.  She makes them all very easy!!  This is seriously one of the first things I reach for when I want to make something special.
The instructions for the Set of Drawers are on this DVD.  Basically you make 4 small boxes and the 4 slip cases they fit into and then glue them down on a 6x6 piece of paper.  Next you top them with another  6x6 piece of paper.  You then top the whole thing off with a 6x6 easel card.  Easy peasy!
It is fun to put little goodies in the drawers.  There are so many different things you could add like a gift card (perfect size), candy or embellies.  Thanks for hopping by and checking out my set of drawers card!!
To be eligible to win the goodies you must:

1. Become a follower of each participant
2. Leave a comment at each stop
3. Deadline will be Tuesday, February 28th.
A Master List with all the winners will be posted on March 1st.
Here is the list of blogs you should hop around and see:

TGIF and a little giveaway!!

Hi everyone,
TGIF!  I think short school weeks are great for kids but work for moms! lol  This week I have had kids home all week because of sickness.  And some are still fighting their upper respiratory infections.  Only one kid has managed to miss out on any of the illness invading our home and I hope that I am not jinxing him by saying this now.  ha
I have been working on a layout all week.  With the kids sick I've only found little bits of time to work on it but I did finally finish it up today.  It is a birthday layout of my oldest daughter's 10th birthday.  I am using a sketch from Sketch Inspiration but the challenge expired already.  But I loved the sketch and wanted to use it so I did.
When my bff, Denise came to visit she brought me a paper pad from DCWV - The Celebration Stack. She is a sweetheart!   It is gorgeous!!  It is so super bright and happy.  I immediately knew I would be using it to do this birthday layout.
Pretty much everything on the layout is from that paper pad.  I even cut out the banner and embellies from paper sheets in the pad.  The only things I added were ribbon, buttons, bling and a little Stickles from my stash.

My daughter loved the layout and really isn't that all that matters?? ha

Here arethe challenges that I am entering it in.:

Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge - Something with a B (birthday, beautiful girl, baby dog)
Scrapbookaholic by Abby - Dilo En Español Reto #3/Dilo En Español Challenge #3 Birthday
Just Inspirational Challenges - Anything Goes
Paper Play Challenges - For a female relative (daughter)
Willow Design Stamps - Anything Goes
Play Date Cafe -PDCC 120 -color inspiration
Friendships Garden - photo inspiration and birthday

Tomorrow I will have a full day of Lacrosse.  My ds has his first two games of the season tomorrow.  Lucky for me my mother in law is coming over to watch the little sickies so that I don't have to try to take them with us.

The weather here in Vegas today is lovely.  It is very spring like - 70's and sunny.  Gorgeous!

Oh, I wanted to tell you about the coolest thing I bought from HSN.  I bought the We R Memory Keepers Lucky 8 Punch.  Have you guys heard of this totally awesome new punch???!!!

Check out how cool they are!!!  Guess what I will be playing with this weekend?!?  It is funny because I never buy things from HSN but I just happened to turn on the tv and as I was scrolling through looking for something to watch I saw the words HSN and Scrapbooking.  So I had to click on it to see what they were showing.  And this was the today's special.  I watched for a bit and then whipped out my ipad and put in an order!! LOL  I couldn't help myself.  ha
 click photo to enlarge
Just thought I would share!!

Please use this weekend to work on your Something Sweet project for the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog.  The challenge ends on Wednesday the 29th 8pm pst.  I would LOVE to see your projects on there.

**I am offering 5 Crafter's Companion Stamp sets to the first 5 people (one set to each person) to email me and say they want them.  (scrapwithstacy@gmail.com)  Just be aware that if you take one I will expect to see a project on the March CC Challenge!!  lol  ** (US Residents ONLY)

Have a great night!!

Never Too Much Chocolate!

I'm sad that my bff has gone back home!!  But I did have such a great time while she and her family visited us this weekend.
Now we are having kid sickness at my house.  My 6 year old has pink eye in both eyes and cold symptoms and also has infection around his eyes too.   Three of my other kids have cold symptoms so I took then all to the doctor yesterday.  Poor little Riley (6 yr old) he is now on two medications but after only one day his eyes are soooo much better and he seems to feel so much better.  The other kids are on OTC medications and prescription cough syrup.  Thank goodness today is still a day off from school.

It is so crazy how quickly the kids change from healthy and running around the house to sick and laying around.  Hopefully things get back to normal soon.
I  have a Crafter's Companion project to share today.  I made this card using the soon to be released Anthony and Burt stamp set - You Can Never Have Too Much Chocolate.  This is my favorite stamp out of the new releases.  And it worked perfectly with my Basic Grey paper -Kissing Booth.   All those yummy chocolate browns and perfect pinks.

I made an easel card which is currently my favorite kind of card to make apparently since I seem to constantly make them!! LOL  They are super easy and if you don't know how to make them you can check out the mini tutorial I have posted over at Crafter's Companion today.  I'm entering this card in these challenges:
Truly Scrumptious -All Creatures Great and Small
Penny's Paper-Craftu Challenge-Anything Goes
Divas by design - wings and things

I just bought the new Sew Ribbon - Scallop punch set and used this card to test the product.  I love this new product!  It is really easy and fast.  I liked it so much that when Denise and I went back to my LSS on Sunday I bought another one!  I bought the Zig Zag.  I haven't had a chance to use it yet but you can expect to see it on something here soon.
I thought I would show you how the Sew Ribbon works in case you have been interested in getting one.  First you get out your paper and put the plastic guide on your paper where you want to put the ribbon.  The plastic guide has magnets on both pieces that automatically attach to one another.  It is easy to adjust to the exact location you want it to be placed.
Next you pull out the punch and guide it into each slot.  Punch down until you hear it punch through the paper.  Punch each slot and then take off the guide.
Pull out a "needle".  This needle is a piece of plastic with adhesive on the inside.
You put your ribbon end on the inside of the needle and press both sides until they adhere to the ribbon.  Now you just "sew".  Taking your needle back and forth through the punched out slots.
When you reach the end you just trim your ribbon and take off your needle.  You can reuse them.  I could even see you adding your own double sided tape when they stop being sticky.  Or you can buy new ones if you prefer.  You need them but I'm not sure I will need to buy more than the few that came with the punch set.
Cool right?!  Here is a layout I made of my littlest daughter with her crazy hair and new glasses.  I used a really neat sketch from Creative Scrappers #195.  And paper and embellies from the Echo Park This & That: Graceful Collection Kit.  Total yummy goodness in that kit!!!
I layered and layered all that gorgeous paper.  I pulled out some flowers from my stash that were cream colored and sprayed the heck out of them with my Starfish - Glimmer Mist.  So gorgeous and bright!!
You can see where I used the Sew Ribbon - Scallop on that piece of black and white paper.  However you will see that I punched it so that I could use the opposite side of the scallop pattern.  I liked the way that side looked too and it just worked better with my layout.
Have I mentioned how much I'm liking this Sew Ribbon!! lol

I'm entering this in these challenges:
Creative Scrappers Sketch 195 Challenge
Creative Inspirations Paint - Polka dots
CES Challenges - spots and dots
Do you stack up? - Layers
4 Crafty Chicks - Double Down
Inspired by - #11 photo
Frosted Design -Brads or Eyelets
Crafty Ann's Challenge - Bright and Bold
Scrap it girl - Show some love

Well now it is that time in my posts where I tell you that you only have 1 week left to enter the Something Sweet challenge at Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog!!  I'm really trying to grow the entries and get the word out there about this great challenge site!!
Also there is that free stamp set giveaway over there that is going on until Thursday February 23rd at 8pm PST.  You could be the lucky winner of the Stamp It Australia -Destination Stamp Set!!!  So go over and comment and get in on the action.

And last but not least you still have a few days to join in on Carri's Birthday Blog Hop.  The last day to hop along is February 28th.  The winners will be announced on Carri's blog on March 1st.  Please go hop around and help Carri celebrate her birthday!!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Sorry this is soooooooooo long!! lol

Happy Sunday!

Happy Sunday!  How is everyone doing??  I have been having a great time hanging out with my bff, Denise and her family.  They have been here all weekend staying with us and I have been loving it!!  The weekend has just rushed by so fast and I am sad to say they are going back home tomorrow. Boo!

Yesterday Denise and I were lucky and got to spend most of the day scrapping in my office.  I finished a layout and 3 cards!  2 are for DT projects and one of them didn't get photographed in good light yet.  So I will be showing one good photo and one not so good photo of one to you today. lol
I made an easel card using the awesome sketch from Sketch Saturday.  I colored a Lili of the Valley image that I got for free with a magazine I bought and added it to the front.  I used some papers from Basic Grey Kissing Booth.  Can I just say...Yum!  I inked up a heart shaped doily and added some ribbon from my stash.  The chipboard is from Crate Paper.  I like how it turned out all girlie and pretty.  I plan to also enter it in the With all my heart Challenge at Fussy and Fancy Friday challenge and the Flower challenge at Cute Card ThursdayI am also entering it over at My Craft Spot in their Girlie Girl challenge.  I think this one qualifies, don't you?! lol  And how about some more...Dorcerela Creations - Valentines theme challenge  and Stamps R Us Anything Goes Challenge.  Here are a few more challenges:
Stamp and Create - Valentine’s/Love

Today Denise and I had a "girls day out".  We went to a movie and saw Underworld Awakening.  We loved it. We are all about strong women kicking butt!!  lol   Then we went to Michaels and then to my LSS to look around and buy some fun stuff.  After buying goodies we went out to eat Mexican food.  And now we are back home and STUFFED!! lol  But it was worth it the misery.

Now, Denise is back to scrapping and I am writing to you.

Here is a photo of my son, Riley.  He went outside with me when I went out to go take photos of my projects.  He is holding up the layout that I made of him using a totally cool sketch from Colorful Creations that I haven't really taken a good photo of.  It was almost dark when I went out to take the photos and the yellow Glimmer Mist just looks muddy to me.  But he looks so cute in the photo I can't wait to share...
Isn't it cute!! (The photo of him I mean!! lol)  I am going to show you one of the photos I took of the layout.  I think it doesn't make the layout look very good...what do you think?
I used papers from Echo Park -Style Essentials.  I pulled a ton of bling from my stash and spritzed the heck out of it with Sun Sisters - Glimmer Mist.  I hate that it buckles the paper.  Maybe if I had more patience and waited for it to dry it wouldn't do that but I don't and it does.

Okay, we are getting down to the wire over at Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog.  The end of the February Something Sweet challenge is fast approaching so if you are thinking of joining in (and I hope you are) then you need to get your projects made and posted!  Hurry up already!! LOL!

Help Frea Out She Has A Giveaway!!

http://creafrea.blogspot.com/2012/02/een-verzoekje-aan-jullie-candy-kind.htmlHi everyone,

My friend, Frea at Creafrea Blog has a request of us:

"Dear Blog friends,

My favourite (and only LOL) 'son in law' has a hobby; in his spare time he likes to work as DJ Alverez. In order to make himself better known to the public he entered a DJ contest and received the public prize which means he is in an election for a chance to get into the finals of the contest. In order to do so he needs votes and here's where you girls come in. Right now he's in first place with 35% of the votes but there are some days to go still and I would sooo appreciate it if you would vote for him. In order to vote you need to go to
http://beatthedj.wordpress.com and vote for DJ Alverez. You can vote one time per IP address, but of course you can also vote from your Smartphone.

Now in order to make this more interesting for you I'm giving away this lovely brand new Sugar Nellie stamp. You do need to mount it on EZ mount. So when you have voted please leave a comment here so you will go into the draw. And if you make a post with the voting link and information on your blog with the candy in your sidebar you can leave a 2nd comment and you go into the 'hat' twice, although it will probably be this random thingie instead of a hat LOL!! You can vote until 22nd of February and that is also the closing date for this candy. On behalf of Kevin, thanks a lot girls!! "

I would be so happy if you would at least go vote for him and if you want to throw your name in the hat for the stamp set giveaway that would be cool too.  If you do want to enter to win the candy you will need to go HERE.

Thanks!!

Happy Valentines Day!!
I hope you are all having a wonderful day today.  I wanted to share a few projects that I did.  I made a layout for the Sketches4all February Sketch Valentine LO Challenge and I am just now getting around to sharing it with you.  This challenge lasts the whole month of February and ends on the 29th.  There is a great RAK for the winner.  So you should go check it out and join in!!

I was required to use a Valentine/Love theme and this fab sketch from Liz Qualman:
I worked with a lot of chipboard and painted it silver.  I used glimmer mist to spray the heck out of that big flower which was white to start with.  My fingers were red for a couple of days afterwards.  It was kind of funny because everyone kept asking what happened to my hand.  They thought I was injured. lol  The struggles we artists go through....lol

My friend Mike took this photo of my hubby and I when we were visiting him and his wife a couple of months ago.  I immediately wanted to scrap it.  Mike made us this gorgeous roasted red pepper and goat cheese bruscetta and served us lovely champagne as a little appetizer before making us an awesome gourmet dinner.  It was just a wonderful evening.

I also want to show you a project that I made for Crafter's Companion too.  It is a sneak peak at a new stamp line we will be getting next week called Anthony and Burt.  Anthony and Burt are a frog and a fly.  They are super cute and funny.  I decided to use the Party Amphibian Stamp Set and make a birthday card.

I tried to keep the focus on the image and the festive star pattern paper which I think gives the whole thing a "party" feel.  I made the accordion flower and thought I would share with you how I did it.

First I grabbed one of my Martha Stewart punches and punched a 12" x 1 1/2 inch piece of patterned paper down one side.

Next I pulled out my trusty Crafter's Companion Ultimate Tool and scored it about every 1/4".  I had to eyeball it a bit.  I scored in the middle of each scallop and I scored between each scallop.

Next is to accordion fold the scored paper back and forth until you get to the end.

Once you reach the end you just need to put adhesive on the end and attach it to the other end of the folded piece forming a circle.

I punched a circle out of card stock next and put adhesive on it.

Gently push the accordion flower down onto the sticky circle forming a flat flower shape.

I fussy cut a star out of my pattern paper and added it to the top of the flower and crowned the whole thing with a button with noted bakers twine on it.   I think it adds just that little something extra to the card.   I also decorated the inside of the card too.

Remember you still have time to go enter your name to try to win the new Sheena Douglass Paint Fusion -Lilac stamp set we are giving away over on the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog.  Giveaway ends on Thursday the 16th at 8pm PST.

The month is fast rushing by so get busy on those February Something Sweet projects for the February Challenge at Crafter's Companion USA Blog!!!  Hurry for Pete's sake!!  LOL I'm dying to see what you come up with.  There is a wonderful prize and you know you want to win it!! lol

Have a fabulous Valentines Day!!

xoxo Stacy

I'm still sick.   But I didn't let it slow me down today.  Started the morning at Gymcats with my two younger kids for that all important "parent involvement day".  (hehehe)  It started out a little off kilter but eventually they warmed to the place and by the time we left they didn't want to go.  For those who don't know, Gymcats is a gymnastics place.
My "brave"one getting ready to jump in the foam pit.
This one is a bit suspicious of all this fun being had!! lol

After that we headed back home and we got to see my hubby who had flown back home and arrived while we were gone.

I worked on a project for Carri's Birthday blog hop which is fast approaching...February 16th!  Plan to come hop around and help us celebrate Carri's birthday!!  There will be awesome inspiration and candy!!!  I know I'm giving away something GOOD!!  So stop back by on Thursday.

I fixed some yummy Italian Wedding Soup, salad and crusty bread rolls for dinner.  And now I am getting ready to go sit in the living room with my hubby and watch Real Steel.

I just wanted to stop by and say hello!!  And remind you that this weekend is a good time to get your project made for the Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog's February Something Sweet Challenge!!!  (am I bugging you enough yet?!?! lol)  I sure need my friends to come join in the challenge this month...hint hint, hint.

Also, if you are interested, the Crafter's Companion Informational Blog is giving away a Sheena Douglass Paint Fusion - Fuchsia Stamp set this weekend.  Go over there and enter to maybe win!!  Giveaway ends on Sunday.

The Crafter's Companion Challenge blog Stamp It Australia - Rose Clock stamp set giveaway winner is Hoosier Stamper.

Oh this is an awesome, awesome stamp!!!

Congrats Hoosier Stamper!!

Finally who wants to see a photo of my giant schnauzer who thinks she is a mini laying in my lap?

Have a nice weekend.

Just Living Is Not Enough

I can't believe it is already Thursday!!  This week has flown past.  Sorry to have not posted very much but I have been sick and busy.  Two things that really don't go together well.  ha  I'm still not feeling that great but the show must go on...right?
I spent the morning with my oldest daughter at the doctors office.  She has been having chronic hives and we have been struggling to find out what the problem is.  We were worried it might be something serious so took her to a specialist.  But good news...the specialist says she is fine.  The hives might be food related so we will work at it from that angle until we figure things out.  She has been having them less and less so I have my fingers crossed that they will stop altogether soon.

After the doctor I took her out for breakfast and then we had to stop by my Local Scrapbook store because they had called me to say that they had a Christmas present waiting for me at the store!!  They said they had called in December and left a message but I was out of town and missed hearing it.

When I got there they gave me a wrapped box and I opened it and it was filled with candy AND a $50 gift card to the store!!!!!!!!!!  WOOT!!  Of course I immediately went shopping and spent it!! lol   Just think it had been sitting there for over a month!!! What a fun surprise.

Now I am waiting for my mother in law to come home with my oldest son.  He fell at school and hit his hand.  We are worried that he might have broken something and since I am sick she offered to take him to the Doc in the Box.  (urgent care facility)  I have my fingers crossed that it is just bruised.

I wanted to remind you to please go enter the February Something Sweet Challenge at Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog.  Remember how I am trying to grow the number of entries???!!  We are giving away a cool prize that you will probably really want to have so get busy already!!! LOL

I made a card for the Crafter's Companion Informational blog using Sheena Douglass Paint Fusion - Fuchsia stamp set.  I stamped out the image and then painted it.  Next I fussy cut it out and layered it with Popdots for dimension.
You can use a straight edge punch to create a border for a circular shape.   Here is what you do:

First you punch a length of paper with your edge punch. Cut off a strip of the paper leaving a small border 1cm or about .5 inch.

Snip at regular intervals, from the straight edge through to an aperture close to the patterned edge, leaving that edge intact
Slightly overlapping the sections, stick the strip behind the curved edge you wish to decorate.

Cool right??!! I found this idea on Pinterest and thought I should share it with you.

I went for a fairly clean and simple card to let the fuchsia flower stand out. I finished up by stamping out my sentiment which I thought was appropriate. Have a look and see if you don't agree.

Okay, my son has come home and his hand is not broken.  It is severely bruised and they have it in a splint.  They sent him home with some strong pain pills.

More tomorrow...
