Have a Safe and Fun New Years Eve!!

Hi ya'll,

We spent the day running around trying to get the RV ready to leave tomorrow. Oil change, propane, groceries etc.

We just finished up dinner and I need to get this post done for you all.

I used a Sketchabilities challenge sketch. I am hoping I am not too late to post it over there but if I am oh well...I enjoyed using the sketch.

Here are those photos from my tired blow out on the way here. I'm not sure I did the experience justice.

It has been so long since I scrapped, I need some mojo. ha

We are just at home tonight with all the kids and will probably not stay up till midnight since we are both leaving super early in the morning to head back home to Nevada. Me driving and my husband flying. 5:30am will come pretty quickly!

I hope you are all having a fun and safe New Years Eve.

Here I am....

I am sure it is crazy at your house too this time of year so you will understand why I have been missing more than I have been here. I will be back to more regular postings in January when I get back home.

BUT...I actually did do some scrapping last night and I want to share this layout with you.

I did it for two reasons....the first was for a sketch challenge at Sketches4You, Sketch Crazy that Fia has going on right now. I love to start with a sketch and I love to combine challenges so it worked perfectly for me. The second reason was I needed an example for my S4U Stash Challenge.

I did a recipe challenge this time. You should go and join in. I will be giving a RAK to the winner. And this challenge will end on January 10th.

The recipe is to use chipboard, 2 types of ribbon and to tear paper. Seems like a good enough challenge.

I used a picture of my parents that my mom emailed me. I really liked this picture it is sweet.

I also had a funny story to share.

I hide my kids presents in my closet. I have even installed a lock so that I can lock it at Christmas!

Well, guess what I found in my closet yesterday???!!! A present for one of my daughters...a very special present....her MAIN present! Spy Gear. I'm such a dork. I hid it so well, that I hid it from myself!

Here is a couple of pictures of her in her Spy Gear.

The funny thing is that she never said a thing about not getting the one thing she asked for. But man is she happy and excited to have finally gotten it!! I don't think she even cares that it is a little late.

So there is your little chuckle from me today!

I was supposed to leave this morning to drive back home to Nevada but there is snow storm in Arizona today and it will be there and also in New Mexico tomorrow so I am going to wait to leave until Saturday the 1st.

The good news is that I have my RV all loaded and ready to go and by loading the RV I have room to scrap on scrap table!! lol

More tomorrow.

Happy Happy Holidays!!

We Survived - Barely!

Well, we made it to Oklahoma. We were racing in front of a storm so we kept going and spent the first night in Santa Rosa, NM and then got up early and hit the road the next day. We were making excellent time and beating the storm when my right front tire blew!

I was going about 75 mph in the "fast" lane when it blew. We were on a hill almost on a bridge driving on the rim and I got it pulled over on the side of the highway. It was a scary spot we were barely off the road and there was a drop off on the other side and there was tons of traffic on the road zooming by us.

There was actually many lucky things that happened. I was luckily in a good cell phone area and could call AAA. We luckily didn't roll the RV. (which is what usually happens apparently from what everyone tells me) We luckily had a good spare and didn't hurt anything else on the vehicle except the tire. And luckily we got the sweetest guy to come help us change the tire and get us back on the road.

I asked him if I could take this picture of him to scrapbook and he was thrilled that I was going to scrap a page with him on it! He told me he scrapbooks!!!!! I thought at first he was giving me a hard time but he was serious. I don't think he does "fancy" scrapbooking but he does save stuff in a scrapbook. I thought that was cool.

It took about 3 hours to get back on the road but all in all it wasn't that bad if I HAD to break down.

Most of my kids have pink eye (but have meds and are looking and feeling better), my dogs is looking and feeling better on her meds, I am looking and feeling better on my meds! lol

My husband had to change his flight because of weather and didn't get here until late last night with all the rest of my kids and his mother.

So we are all here now and feeling better and hoping for a wonderful Christmas!

How are all of you doing? Any news to share? Any crazy stories? How are you all feeling?? Come on.....share! Get me caught up on things.

Good Grief!

Woke up today with Pink Eye!! (conjunctivitis in my right eye) Good grief! I'm falling apart! LOL Ended up going to 2 doctors today instead of only one.

I got my hysterectomy all scheduled for January....woo hoo I really liked the doctor I went to and am glad she is doing it for me. She does robotic hysterectomies. They are supposed to be less invasive with quicker recovery times. Cross your fingers for me! I need to get back up and running quickly with 5 kids.

One of my dogs had to go to the veterinarian on Saturday. She has hurt her paw and has an infection in her eyes and on her back....good grief She is almost as bad off as me!! LOL We got her on medication and wrapped her paw and she is already doing much much better.

Found out on Sunday that my van has a problem with the front end and I can't safely drive it to Oklahoma this week and can't get it fixed in time.

So now the back up plan is to drive our RV instead. That is actually okay with me. I can fit everything in it and get all my presents back home. And since I have been worrying about where to put the bird when we stop to go to the bathroom on our road trip...now he can just hang out in the bathroom in the RV with the door closed. (we have dogs and they bark and run around inside the car when we get out) (and my boys are too young to hang out in the car without me).

So we are still leaving to drive to Oklahoma on Wednesday. I have SO much to do in the next two days! I'm pretty sure I won't be scrapping until I go to Oklahoma. I plan to take some stuff and farm out my kids to their grandparents and SCRAP! lol

Sketches4you is having a party in January called Bling on 2011! There will be challenges and prizes so let's start out the new year fresh and blingy!!
***Update*** You won't believe this (or maybe you will) but I now have it in the other eye too!! OMG!
***2nd Update***2 kids now have pink eye in both eyes and one has an upper respiratory infection and feels terrible....sigh... One of the pink eye kids is going with me in the car to Oklahoma tomorrow. The other kids will be going to the doctor tomorrow. Wish us all luck!

I Survived!

Well.....I survived. I know you were all waiting with baited breathe to see if I did! ha Everything "came out" alright. (ha) Nothing bad to report.

My doctor now wants me to have an oral endoscopy (swallow a camera pill) so he can look at my lower intestine. So I will do that in January since I am going out of town for Christmas and leave next Wednesday.

You know, really, my colonoscapy was no big deal...there was no embarrassment, no stress and no pain. I'm not even sore at all today. I was only a little tired yesterday from the anesthesia. So if you have one scheduled don't fret.

I got two sweet cards in the mail today from Cheryl in the UK. Thank you Cheryl!!!

She was one of the winners of my last TH Giveaway. One of the cards she sent is a beautiful thank you card with a gorgeous hummingbird on it and the other fab card is the tiniest little retro Christmas card that came in such a lovely little envelope with a key hanging off it.

They were so adorable I had to share them with you!! What do you think?? Aren't they the sweetest??!! You should check out her blog and see all the other goodies she makes. She is just a sweetheart!

I also want to share a couple of tags that my son, Quinn, made. They are so cute!! I think he did a great job on them. That's him in the moustache! lol

How is your weekend going so far? Ready for Christmas (if you celebrate it)?

If you do celebrate a holiday at this time of the year...what do you celebrate and do you have a special tradition??

I would love to learn more from you all. Hope your Saturday is awesome!

Went Shopping for Tim Holtz Products.

Just in case you were wondering...I went shopping today. And I bought some things for my blog candy giveaway. Some very TIM HOLTZ things... I know you guys love him so much!! lol (Still no picture but you should start getting excited now!)
My only problem with buying Tim Holtz products is that I never get to keep them!! I always give them away! ha I hope to some day use them and learn all the fun techniques he teaches. But I guess I won't get to do that with these products since I bought them for YOU!

My Aunt Punkie (she's the one in red) is a quilter and she made a quilt for her son, Andy and one for my Mom, (she's the one in blue) her ex-sister in law. She brought them to our family reunion Christmas party this last weekend.
I think they are both beautiful! (and wish she had brought me one!! lol) What do you think? Which is your favorite? Do any of you quilt? I think I would like to quilt but I would need one of those magnifying thingy ma jigs.
I am having a colonoscapy on Friday (how exciting...not) (TMI maybe?) So tomorrow will be my cleansing day....sigh... I bet I won't be on the computer that much. I guess I could just take my laptop into the bathroom with me and blog.... Or is that gross??

I just felt the need to share...

On to something else....

I am so far behind I am running in a circle. I have so much to do to get ready for Christmas. Having surgery really threw me off. I'm normally totally done by now with everything wrapped and my cards sent!

I did do my Christmas cards but haven't gotten them to the post office yet...my plan is to go there in the morning bright and early after dropping the kids off at school. (but my plan was to go there today too...sigh...)

I have some RAK's and Santa Sister packages to mail too. I was supposed to participate in a swap (and made the stuff) but can't seem to get to that damn post office!

I really just want to scrap something for fun but it isn't really fitting in my schedule right now. Hopefully soon.

I am traveling again next week to Oklahoma for the Christmas break. I'm driving with my 2 older kids, the dogs, the bird and all the presents. Hubby is flying with the 3 younger kids... Who has the easier job?
Do you travel over the holidays?? Any stories to tell?

I drive back and forth to Oklahoma 4 or more times a year....so I could share a few... I actually like driving there. My older boys are wonderful travelers. And I just pop a book on CD in the CD player and listen and drive. I mostly listen to mysteries because they keep me awake. But some times I like to listen to biographies or comedians.

I love to read...how about you? I pretty much never go anywhere without a book or my Kindle. Anyone else have a Kindle?? I LOVE my Kindle. It is a brilliant thing.

Can you tell from all the questions, I am trying to get some comments?? I would love to hear some of the answers from you.

Good night.

Sketches4All Anniversary Party Blog Hop!!

Welcome to the Sketches4All Anniversary Party Blog Hop!!

Before you read on too far, make sure that you have started at Mel's blog. If I am your 2nd stop, then you are in the right place.

I'm excited to be designing for Sketches4All. It is a wonderful, warm community with tons of fun challenges. I enjoy going there every day and I know you would love it too.

I have noticed that many of my followers have joined me over there. So....now it is your turn!!

I created this layout using the great sketch for this Blog Hop.

If you want to win the main prize for this bloghop (and I am sure you do), then you have to do 4 things.

1) Just hop along to each person on this blog hop and find the hidden letter on each persons blog to solve the mystery word. My hidden letter is A. Make sure you leave a comment on each blog as you hop along to get credit.
There will be 2 letters on the last blog (Fia's) so be sure and look for both of them while you are there.

2) Then use the sketch posted above to make your own project and post it on Sketches4All . Don't forget to put in the hidden word you found from our blogs when you post your project.

3) Join Sketches4All.

4) Make a post in the forum for this contest! Here

That's it. Easy as pie.

To be eligible for the RAK on my blog you must 1) leave a comment, 2) follow me if you want, 3) blog about this blog hop and link back to me. If you actually do the layout and post it on S4A - leave me another comment with the link to your layout in the photo gallery at S4A and you will get a 2nd entry into the random drawing for the winner of my RAK.

I will be posting 2 challenges at S4A for this bloghop if you do either of these challenges and post them at S4A, I will give you another entry into my RAK drawing (You will get an extra entry for each of your creations).

I will be drawing the winner for this RAK on Tuesday, December 7th.

Some of the other design team members are giving away a RAK on their blogs too so don't stop here! Keep hopping along and visit everyone!

The next person on the Hop is Michelle so hop on over!

There will be other challenges you can enter with RAK's to be won at Sketches4All too. The Sketches4All Anniversary Party is from November 26th until December 6th.
New ending date for the blog hop....Monday December 6th! So that gives everyone more time to join in.

Christmas Spirit

I'm in the Christmas mood...so today you are going to see Christmas cards.

The first one is for my current Anniversary Party Card Challenge at sketches4you. The challenge is to make a "Holiday" card (you choose the holiday) with a Tree on it. Easy enough. And I have a great RAK for the winner. This challenge ends on Monday December 6th. So go check it out.

The next card was one I made for my regular bi-monthly card challenge at Sketches4you (link on sidebar). You have to use the cool Pagemaps sketch I chose. That's it. I have another cool RAK for the winner... You have only one more day for this challenge it ends tomorrow November 30th at midnight. I bet if you tried you could throw together a card and post it.... Just saying.....

And my final Christmas card was for Jackie's card challenge at Sketches4all. I believe it might end tomorrow too if you want to try to participate in her challenge.

As I am in the Christmas mood, I started my Christmas cards. I always add a family picture and we took some yesterday. This is always hilarious since there are 5 kids, 2 adults and the 3 dogs always try to get in on the action. We had a couple turn out okay. I will post one in a few days (or scrap it and post my lo!).

So I need to run to the store and get a few things and get the pictures printed. SO this is a short post today. (at least for me! LOL)

Don't forget to join in on the Sketches4you Anniversary Blog Hop (and the party going on over there has challenges everyday and prizes for the winners). You have until December 6th to participate.

Happy Monday!!

This Girl Of Mine

My silly daughter was making faces for me the other day and I thought I would share them with you. Maybe they will make you laugh too.

She is a funny, bossy, little pistol! Her favorite word right now is NO! And even with that I am so lucky to be her mom.

I did a layout using pictures of her and thought that it went perfectly with these dorky pictures of her.

I started this layout in Washington at CKC and had fun finishing it up here after I decided which pictures I wanted to use.

I did some masking on it but you really can't see it in the picture, there are rubons and chipboard.

I inked and stickled most everything...lol

It was fun to work on this layout.

My family has been pretty lazy this holiday weekend. Mostly, just playing around, reading, scrapping and watching TV...

Next weekend I am going to Texas to our 15th annual Christmas Party/Family Reunion. My aunt and uncle on my dad's side of the family started hosting it 15 years ago when my husband and I lived in Texas and I have gone every year since and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

We outgrew my Aunt and Uncle's house and we now have it at a hotel that can hold us all. We all fly in and drive in from all over the USA. And we have a blast.

I am taking my 3 oldest kids this year. I have to fly there, so who gets to go, depends on how many free tickets my husband has earned! LOL

We always have a fun (funny) gift exchange. I can't think what it is called but it is the one where everyone brings a wrapped present and you draw numbers and pick one from the pile or steal it from someone else.

Anyway, it is usually really a ton of fun. Everyone tries to bring either "good" gifts that everyone fights for or really bad gifts that are hilarious (that we sometimes fight for too.)

I am working on a mini scrapbook of pictures from past Christmas parties that I am planning to take as "my present" this year.

I will share it with you after the party (if it turns out cute! lol)

Okay, enough for now.... Don't forget to join in on the Sketches4you blog hop which is going on now until Monday December 6th.

To win my Candy (RAK) you only need to comment on the post, follow me if you want and link back to me from your blog. You want to win my candy don't you?!?!! ha

You should go to the other DT members blogs too. I am pretty sure they are giving away blog candy too.... That is 11 chances to win candy! Go....do it now....

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Thursday!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the USA!! And Happy Thursday to everyone else!! LOL

We are stuffed to the gills around here. I cooked for 2 days and then we ate and ate today. I made 6 pies and I haven't had a piece of one yet. Still trying to digest the other food.

But I am thankful for my family, my friends and good health (mostly-lol).

I am posting this layout of my sweet baby girl. These pictures are from when we were in China. We went there last year to finish up our adoption and to bring her home.

The picture where she is sleeping is so special to me because she made these sweet sucking noises when she slept. They were adorable and I was pretty happy to get a picture of her doing it.

It was really, really cold in China when we went there and I am not sure if you know this but there was no heat turned on in the buildings! NONE. (not even in the government buildings or hotels!)

So that is why you see all those pictures of Chinese babies bundled up in fifty layers of clothing!

We didn't even have heat in our hotel except in our room when we put our key in the slot that turn it on. When we took our key and left the room the heat turned off. BURRRR

Most of the little babies clothing have a split crotch so they can just stop and have them pee in the street. We saw people doing this.

Anyway, this is the coat that dd came wearing to our first meeting. All of the other little girls in our group had similar (or matching) outfits on. They all looked so adorable.

I made this layout for an inspiration challenge at sketches4you that Melissa Pablo is having. I mainly took my inspiration from the colors of the picture and from the doodling.

I sprayed it with 3 different colors of Glimmer Mist, Key Lime Pie, Peach Delight and Black Magic. I doodled on it with a black sharpie pen. It seems like it would have been easy but it took me a while to make it. It isn't my normal style of scrapping so it was a bit of a challenge for me. I do like how it turned out though. What do you think?

Sketches4you is having a blog hop and it starts tomorrow. So if you can drag yourself over here tomorrow and check out my blog I will give you all the info... I will be giving away a RAK....so it might be worth your while....

And now to end with....this last picture is of 2 of my dogs...(the bean bags are my kids chairs in my craft room/office) Don't they look like they have had a hard day??!! lol Lazy dogs!

Bertie Bird

On Sunday I was sitting in my living room when a bird landed on the backdoor. (on the wood around the glass panels) It was so odd that I took a closer look at the bird. (who just sat there) When I looked closer I realized that the bird was a parakeet.

I got up and opened the other door (they are french doors) and the bird didn't fly off. I talked to it and got really close but it flew off. I followed it across my yard to our deck. It was sitting on the wall by the deck and I again tried to catch it. It flew off again...this time up into a very tall tree.

I went back in the house thinking...too bad, I can't help the little bird.

I told my family about it and my son and I went back out to see if it was still in the tree. It wasn't.

We looked around and found it on the ground. It flew back into another tree when we got closer. We stood in our garage across from the tree and talked sweetly to it.

Amazingly it flew down to us and into the garage. It landed by our dog crates (empty) and I caught it and put it inside of the smallest dog crate. We brought it into the house.

Now, I know that is the long drawn out version but I didn't want you to miss out on all the details (LOL).

I caught the bird because I was worried about a domestic bird being out in the wild. It was cold here too.

I called our front gate and asked if anyone had reported their bird missing but no one had so I guess we are now the proud owners of a pretty blue parakeet!

The kids and I went to the pet store and got a bird cage and all the other things a parakeet needs.

The bird was happy to go into the new cage (he/she didn't like the dog crate). And the poor thing must have been starving because it ate and ate.

The kids have named him/her Bertie Bird (my 5 year old son's choice) and are super thrilled to have a new pet.

And being a scrapper....I couldn't wait to do a layout featuring this creature! LOL

There is a challenge over at Sketches4you that is to scrap a pet...PERFECT! LOL

I actually combined it with a sketch challenge (which unfortunately I can't actually enter because I missed the part where you can't combine it with other challenges...boo...me) and with a color challenge (blue and brown).

I'm having my normal weekly Stash Challenge at Sketches4you and my challenge is for you to put some sparkle on your projects (ie: bling, Glimmer Mist, Stickles). I used this layout as my example because if you could see it in person it practically glows! LOL

I put tons of Crystal Stickles, a few blingy brads and then sprayed the whole thing with Radiant Rain Shimmering Mist in Pearl Gold. (totally delicious looking stuff!!)

I would love it if you joined me on this challenge. And as an added enticement....I will be giving away an awesome RAK to the winner. And if you follow me you know I do good RAKS!

Getting close to Thanksgiving....are you ready? Do you have your shopping done? Any of you planning to shop on Black Friday??

Giving Thanks and a Tutorial

I am really a lucky girl. I have a great, loving husband, fun, enjoyable children, tons of fabulous family and friends.
I really am blessed with riches of the heart.
I want to thank all of my followers especially the ones who sent me special get well wishes while I was out recovering from surgery.
Sometimes I don't think we realize how little things mean so much. So thank you all very much I am grateful for your friendship.
I want to especially thank my friend, Kelly Massman, we only know each other from online but I feel as if we are extremely close friends. She was so sweet to check on me multiple times, she sent me get well cards and lastly she made me this super sweet Tea Cosy.
I got it in the mail recently and just really LOVED it so much.
I loved it so much I took it apart to figure out how to make it!!!!!! lol
So, I am going to give you a little tutorial on how to make it. Because it is not a hard project and it meant so much to me to receive it. Maybe you could make something like this to show someone in your life that you are thinking of them.
1. I took a 2 sided piece of patterned paper and cut it into an 8 inch square.
2. Then I folded the square in half.
3. I then laid the triangle with the middle point pointing up.
4. I took the right side and folded it to the middle. (there will be 2 inches at the bottom between the right and left fold)
5. I did the same to the left side.
6. Next I took one piece of the top point and folded it down.
I didn't glue it and it stays fine but you could glue it down if you want.
7. Next I stamped a sentiment on it.
I used a Thank You because I am giving it to one of my children's teachers.
8. I then added ribbon and a flower.
You could add whatever embellies you want.
9. The last thing I did was pop in the tea bags.
You could put a instant cocoa packet or and envelope of bath beads. Or any number of other items that might fit inside.
Mine isn't as cute as Kelly's but I think ds's teacher will love to get it from him. I might even have the kids make their own. It is easy enough that they would be able to do it and probably love doing it.
So, there you go....a fun and easy tutorial for your Monday.
If you make one and post it on your blog please leave me a link so I can check it out.
Have a wonderful Monday!!
**Just a heads up - one of the winners of the 6 mini candies from my giveaway has not emailed me. Tomorrow is the deadline. The winner who does not email me by 11:59pm Tuesday November 23rd will forfeit their win and I will pick a NEW WINNER for the MINI CANDY**

Riley Turned 5

My sweet little son, Riley had his 5th birthday last week. Normally, Mama is the one doing it all, cake, present, decorations etc. etc. etc. but as you all know I was recovering from surgery sooooo Daddy did it all. And made sure to tell me he did it all! LOL

Why is it that most men want applause when they do normal family chores?

Well, I applauded his manly shopping, decorating, wrapping and cake making. Then I just enjoyed the party! lol

If you follow my friend, Denise's blog you will have already seen this layout in a little different way.(like with her kid instead of mine! lol)

We both took the same class at CKC and these birthday pictures were all I had printed. So that is why you get to see this birthday layout. I wasn't as ambitious as Denise...I haven't finished up the other half of the two page layout.

I had a doctors appointment today and really just wanted to get something new on here for your viewing pleasure.

The class was fun. The layouts are fairly simplistic so I went a little crazy with Stickles, a journaling card and alphas.

I do like the cheery upbeat feel of the paper. And the colors worked with the pictures perfectly.

My kids (the 3 oldest) have really been embracing their inner artists lately and have basically been taking over my crafting area making cards and tags. I actually think it is pretty cool (except when they forget to put the top back on the ink pad....) ha. I will probably be posting some of their creations in the next few days. I know you are dying to see them! LOL

How was your Thursday?? Get any scrapping done today??
