Crafter's Companion March "Vintage" Challenge

Have you joined in on the March "Vintage" Challenge at Crafter's Companion this month?  If you haven't there is still time to join and be in the running to win the $30 gift card to the Crafter's Companion store!

I have my take on a "vintage" card to share with you today.  Apparently, vintage is not my forte because it took me FOREVER to come up with this card and it is very plain and simple.  lol

I stamped out my sentiment from Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy Stamp Set - Always Floral with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto a sheet of Ultra Smooth Premium White Card stock.   Next I sprinkled on some clear embossing powder and heat embossed it.

I pulled out a couple of dies and my eBosser and cut out the sentiment and a mat.  While the sentiment was still inside the die, I inked over the image with Ranger Distress ink in Brushed Corduroy.  This gave the perfect little frame around the edge of the sentiment.

Next I pulled out two complimentary pattern papers and distressed and inked the edges.  On one of the papers I grabbed the swirl stamp from my Sheena's A Little Bit Scenic - Flying Colors and with Scattered Straw Distress ink, stamped parts of the swirl on a couple of the corners.  And then I took out my Darice 5" X 7" Embossing Folder - Dot Background and embossed the green patterned paper.  It doesn't show well in the photos but it give nice texture.

After that I just had to put all the layers together.  I worked from a sketch challenge at Try Stamping On Tuesday.  I turned the sketch and took off a piece because it wasn't working with my topper.

I popped up the sentiment with double sided adhesive squares to give a bit of extra dimension.  I used the same Distress ink to color some white ribbon from my stash to make my bow.  I finished the card with 3 pearls.

I'm pretty excited by a new storage solution from Crafter's Companion for my embossing folders called the Embossing Folders Organizer.  I am so excited by it I actually made a video to show it to you!  Tell me what you think.  This is my first youtube video!!  (go me! lol)

We have Spring Break coming up next week and I'm getting very excited!! lol My bestie and her family are coming in to visit for the first 4 days of our break and then my mom will be in town for a couple of weeks.  We are all excited by our upcoming visitors and our break time.

Thanks for stopping by today and looking.

Until next time...happy scrapping.

Lots To Share

Happy Sunday!  Are you watching the game??  I've been watching it in my scrap room.  Best of both worlds right?  I wanted to share a couple of cards I made last night.  I was kind of on a roll.  lol

The first one I made for a color challenge on Sketches4all and for the #5 sketch challenge on the  Sketchy Friday Challenge blog.  I went with a Valentines theme and used my heart edge punch yet again.  I love that punch!

The next card I made was for the sketch challenge on The Craft's Meow.  I went pretty clean and simple.  I pulled out my Crafter's Companion Toreads - Comge stamp set and stamped out "love" in the center of the die cut heart and heat embossed it.  I have found myself pulling out that stamp set multiple times this week while making cards!!

For my next card I was inspired by the Clean and Simple Cardmaking 2 class I am taking at Onlinecardclasses.com.  I pulled out my Sheena - A Little Bit Scenic - Flying Colors stamp set and grabbed the swirl stamp.  I stamped the image with Memento - Paris Dusk ink twice onto my white card base.  After stamping the image, I used a paint brush and water and very lightly went over the lines.  This kind of made it look like it was painted with water colors.  While I had my ink and paint brush out, I grabbed a little bit of the wet ink from inside the lid and splattered it randomly on my card by lightly hitting the brush against my other hand.

Next I grabbed my new Stamp It Imagine - Sentiment Swirls stamp set.  I stamped the "thinking of you" stamp on green Pearlescent paper with Versamark ink and then used opaque white embossing powder to heat emboss the image.  Then I trimmed it into a little banner shape and adhered it to the card.  To finish I added some green skittles on top of a few of the swirls.

The last thing I made last night was a tag for the tag challenge on Sketches4all.  I inked the Kraft tag base with ink from a couple of Ranger Distress ink pads - Worn Lipstick and Brushed Corduroy.  I splattered some water on the tag to cause some water spots.  Then I stamped out the butterflies and the sentiment -"Imagine" from the Stamp It Imagine - Time to Dream stamp set.

I used the same inks to distress some white eyelet lace and then layered the lace on the bottom of the tag.  I colored a clear gem with my Spectrum Noir markers to coordinate and finished with some raffia tied with pink bakers twine.

I think that is enough for tonight don't you? lol  Be sure and stop back by tomorrow.  Crafter's Companion U.S. and UK are combining for an international blog hop!  You won't want to miss that.

Until next time...happy scrapping!
